SUMMARY OF 2011

On February 1 & 2, 2011 we had 16.7 " of snow which was the 2nd highest total for one storm (according to the QC Airport).  The drifts on our road were 10' feet high in places.  (See pictures.)  Luckily, we had our new 4-wheel drive maintainer, which made it through all the drifts.  John Weigel, Road Commissioner, went out on those evenings at 6:00 pm and helped a straneded motorist.  He had the roads cleared by the next night, February 2nd.

Highlights for 2011

  • 4000 tons of rock hauled
  • Two miles of seal coat laid (See addition information in the Highway Department section)
  • Large culvert replaced on Blanchard Island road (many of our culverts are 50+ years old)
  • 350 tons of cinders spread for icy roads
  • Dust control applied (The township uses tree sap and pay $15 / 100' feet of the cost)
  • Provided library services to constituents in Muscatine (Cost is $3214 for the township)
  • Provide general assistance for those that meet the eligibility requirements
  • Replaced motor on 2001 tandem truck at a cost of $18,000

DRURY TOWNSHIP INFORMATION

Drury Township was established in 1857.  It had served the constituents of Drury Township for over 150 years, working hard to make sure the people of this area have the government services they need.  We have the original minutes from 1857 until today.  Anyone interested in viewing these can contact one of the elected officials.

Drury Township is in the southwest corner of Rock Island County, located in western part of Illinois. The township is bordered by the Mississippi River on two sides.  Illinois Route 92, which crosses into the state of Iowa, is the main state highway access into the township.

The township has approximately 53 miles of roadway.  There are over 800 people located in the township.
