Township Highway Commissioner -Jeff Hessel

The Township Highway Commissioner or Road District Commissioner has the responsibility to manage all Township roadways under their jurisdiction, except those inside the incorporated areas of the City of Edwardsville and the Village of Glen Carbon. This office is responsible for the construction and maintenace of Township roads to the extent that the Township provides funds for such. The Highway Commissioner oversees construction, maintenance and repair of roads, lets contracts, employs labor and purchases materials and machinery. Maintenance duties include snow removal, ice control, mowing and trash pick-up. The Highway Commissioner works closely with Madison County Highways.
